Everything is material for you
Søren Kierkegaard has been credited for this quote: “life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.”
I think it was Steve Jobs that said that if you are going through life, you are accumulating experiences and sometimes those experiences look disparate. However, when you look back at your life, if you've taken full advantage of those moments, when you look back at your life, you would see a pattern emerging clearly. And you would see why those things - even the things you didn't want to do - became important for your life.
I was reminded of that lesson as we recorded this episode of The Hustle #WithChude, with Ebuka as host.
Every single thing we have as a part of our life is material for us to use to create something special. For us, it was studying law - even though we were not going to practice law.
I guess for you it may be something else. If you are fully conscious of the fact that everything that happens in your life is material, then you are able to move from “feeling used” to using it to become a better version of yourself and move closer to the picture or dream you have for your life.
Quote for the day:
I think I am great, not because of who I am, but because of the actions I take. And then the actions I take make me who I am.
Two more, for the road :)
i) “Work with people you like and trust, and as long as the financial fundamentals are also good, prosperity will take care of itself.”
ii) Why play a game you can’t win? And if the goal is to stretch yourself - shouldn’t all activity in that game be focused solely on improvement? And if it’s to have fun, then why does it make you so bitter and desperate?
